Plutio alternative

Plutio vs ClientOS: rent a portal, or own one.

Plutio is a hosted all-in-one business app for freelancers and small teams: projects, invoices, proposals, contracts, scheduling and a client portal. ClientOS is a self-hosted client portal for agencies that sell services as products.

The short answer

Plutio is a strong freelancer toolkit, but it has no service store, and white-label is a paid add-on. ClientOS sells your services from its own pages, runs every order to delivery and is white-label on your own server from day one.

Three years of cost

A subscription never ends. A license does.

A fair reading

Where Plutio is strong, and where it pinches.

Plutio is a good product, and for some agencies the right one. Here is what it does well, and why agencies on it look at ClientOS.

What Plutio does well

  • A wide toolkit for the price

Contracts with e-signature, scheduling, time tracking and Gantt charts from $19 a month.

  • Room for a team

Pro includes 30 contributors at $49 a month.

  • Open data

No transaction fees, a public API on every plan and free data export.

Why agencies move to ClientOS

  • A real store and checkout

ClientOS sells each service from its own page, with packages, add-ons and a checkout that creates the order.

  • Orders, not just projects

Briefs, statuses, deliveries, revisions and approvals, built for repeatable services.

  • White-label included

Your domain, logo and words on every package, with no add-on.

Choose Plutio if

  • You are a freelancer who needs contracts and scheduling
  • You bill custom projects rather than packages
  • Core’s limit of 9 active clients is enough

Choose ClientOS if

  • You sell productized services and want clients to buy online
  • You want a help desk and crypto at checkout
  • You want the portal on your own server

FAQ

Plutio vs ClientOS, asked and answered.

Is ClientOS a good Plutio alternative?

For agencies that sell services as products, yes. Plutio is a broad freelancer toolkit; ClientOS adds a service store with checkout, an order workflow, a help desk and runs on your own server.

Does Plutio include white-label?

On Core and Pro, white-label is a $9 a month add-on, and a custom domain needs it. It is included on Max at $199 a month. ClientOS is white-label on every package.

Can I move from Plutio to ClientOS?

Yes. Export your clients from Plutio as a CSV file and bring them in with ClientOS’s CSV import, which maps your columns. On the Premium and Custom packages our team installs ClientOS and moves your data for you.

Do I need to be technical to run ClientOS instead of Plutio?

No. Installing is one command on a Linux server with 2 to 4 GB of RAM, and takes about ten minutes. On Premium and Custom we install it for you, connect email and payments, and hand over a working portal.
